Starnes Farms Starnes Farm sun on the horizon

Welcome to Starnes Farms

Starnes Farms was established in 1998 by Marcus and Vicky Starnes. We purchased our first registered Angus cows in 1998 at the Greene County Angus Association sale, in which I have been active since, serving as President and Sales Manager for several years. I've also been very active in the East Tennessee Angus Association, serving as President, Sales Manager, and Board Member. It was joyful serving as President in 2019 during our 100th year as an active association, the oldest in America. We have consignments in both the GCAA Spring and Fall sales, and the ETAA Spring sale.

After buying our first cows in 1998, we saw the importance of A.I. to improve genetics. We started using artificial insemination in 2004, focusing on good maternal-type cows. This has led us to sires such as Rainfall, Craftsman, Saluda and Riseabove. The goal of our operation is to produce functional cattle that work well on fescue. If they'll work here, we feel they'll work well almost anywhere.

We have several cow families in our herd including, the Primrose family which has been very successful for us, and the Forever Lady family, in which Forever Lady 511 was the anchor, and the Madame Pride family, which is supported by SAV Madame Pride 1529.

Look for our consignments in the GCAA Spring and Fall sales, and ETAA sales.
